What does the Nurse Manager (RN) do ? The Nurse Manager will work in conjunction with, and by the direction of, the Director of Nursing Services, if applicable, to provide nursing support for operations to existing practice locations and newly acquired practices by consulting and advising clinicians on best-practices, implementing of/providing education and training programs, and collaborating on interdisciplinary projects . Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure clinical operations and practice consistent with organizational objectives
- Collaborates with practice management to provide support on operational projects such as site Quality Committees, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative site assessments, Advancing Care Information, the Oncology Care Model (OCM), and other special projects as assigned.
- Facilitates the implementation and/or utilization of outcomes data and evidence-based practices
- Facilitates implementation of standardized best practices within the organization.
- Ensures practice standards of care are consistent with community standards of care.
- Ensures the incorporation of clinical evidence into existing and newly developed standards.
- Staff Development
- Assess staffing levels and issues, patient flow, current practices in the clinical setting.
- Assists with the development of company-wide clinical competency testing and skills validation programs.
- Ensure adequate staffing/FTEs for assigned clinics or region
- Maintains effective nursing staff coverage and operating costs for the practice and/or satellites within budgetary parameters.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable labor laws and schedules and coordinates employee staffing including vacations, sick leave and overtime.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN or MSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
- Minimum 5 years actively practicing as a registered nurse.
- Minimum three years of leadership experience.
- OCN certification preferred.
- Current CPR certification required .
Physical Requirements: Large percent of time performing computer-based work is required . The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. May require standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
