The Victim Service Center of Central Florida is Hiring a Community Prevention Manager Near Orlando, FL

POSITION TITLE: CommunityPrevention Manager

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Develops and conducts presentations and training, and other forms of outreach that increase community awareness and focus on prevention education intended to reduce violence and crime in Central Florida.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY:

Curriculum Development

  • Research, develop, design, maintain and update a comprehensive training curriculum of crime and violence prevention topics including, but not limited to, sexual assault, gender bias, bystander intervention, sexual harassment, healthy relationships, bullying, elder abuse, stalking, etc.
  • Develop, design, maintain and update curricula that educates first responders and hospital personnel about VSC and their role directing victim’s they encounter to our services.
  • Develop educational training that identify stereotypical attitudes and gender objectification and show how these beliefs contribute to myths that surround the socialization process and contribute to sexual violence and crime.
  • Create new and maintain existing VSC CEU certified courses.
  • Ensure all curriculum is inclusive, research based, up-to-date, and tailored to each audience.
  • Record, edit, upload, monitor and maintain all VSC core curricula utilizing Canvas web-based learning management system (LMS).
  • Work with community partners and develop custom/new curriculum as needed.

Training

  • Identify training opportunities, coordinate, schedule and conduct prevention education presentations across Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties.
  • Provide in-person and virtual age-appropriate training programs for a variety youth, adult and professional audiences as required by VSC grantors and as identified in VSC’s strategic plan.
  • Participate in and/or create educational programs in the community, such as panel discussions and/or community forums.
  • Track & record all training and outreach activities in VSC database system and upload pre-test & post-test data and attendance information on an ongoing basis.
  • Update monthly BOD Metrics report and Performance Review Excel Spreadsheet as well as provide ongoing updates to VSC’s Executive Director, VSC’s Grant Manager and appropriate VSC personnel.
  • Develop and conduct ongoing system of evaluations (outcome & process) of various trainings to measure participant satisfaction and successes using Google Forms.
  • Assist in promoting VSC events and programs.
  • Help to identify community partners to provide periodic VSC in- service staff training.
  • Research, develop & conduct in-house training and presentations as needed.

Community Education, Awareness & Outreach

  • Identify, coordinate, and schedule educational opportunities and trainings utilizing various forms of media across Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties including, but not limited to, social media posts, podcasts, Facebook & Instagram live broadcasts, television programs, panel discussions (in-person and/or virtual), etc.
  • Research and develop television podcast topics, identify and schedule guests, create program outlines, scripts and questions, record program presentations and upload content into various social media platforms.
  • Provide (in-person & virtual) educational presentations and training to diverse and targeted audiences as required by grantors and/or identified within VSC’s strategic plan.
  • Provide referral information as needed during presentations and at outreach events.
  • Disseminate curriculum materials and/or VSC collateral as part of training and outreach events.
  • Research and develop television podcast topics, identify and schedule guests, create program outlines, scripts and questions, record program presentations and upload content into various social media platforms.
  • Assist in identifying, coordinating and attending community awareness and outreach events as needed.
  • Assist with VSC events, activities, awareness campaigns and video productions as needed.

Other Duties

  • Cultivates and enhances relationships and strategic partnerships with local colleges, universities, youth serving organizations, hospitals, businesses, civic organizations, faith-based organizations, non-profits, government entities, etc.
  • Assists with the with the creation of social media content, posts, publicity materials and promotional campaigns for all prevention educations activities & events.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing VSC events throughout the year.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Target Benchmarks

  • 15 training/outreach activities per month.
  • Prepares for and record 2-3 Orange TV Episodes and/or podcasts per quarter.
  • Attends/ Participate at at-least 1 community outreach event per month.
  • Provide education/ data content for VSC’s social media 2 times per month.
  • Coordinates at least 1 community-based panel event annually.
  • Presents 1 VSC CEU certified training annually.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Social Media, Public Relations or closely related field required.
  • Minimum of one year of professional training experience.
  • Prior experience hosting podcasts and/or video productions preferred.
  • Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Video/Audio Editing Skills with experience in post-production software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier Pro, Exc.
  • Prior experience using Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) or similar system to design and create online courses.
  • Computer skills including experience with Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to create visually appealing presentations utilizing Canva, PowerPoint, Prezi or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with unique individuals of all ages, genders, religions, cultures, ethnicities, attitudes, beliefs, other characteristics without discrimination, demonstrating cultural competency and community awareness.
  • Ability to talk in front of groups about sensitive topics including rape and violence.
  • Ability to listen compassionately to others disclosing confidential and sensitive information and provide appropriate referrals.

Additional Requirements

  • Successfully pass a level 2 criminal background check and E-verify.
  • Complete the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence Advocacy Training (ACT) within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
  • Ability to work a varying nontraditional schedule that includes early morning, evening, and weekend work.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel across the tri-county area (mileage reimbursement provided).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.71 - $21.71 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
