In December 2020, the museum finalized a set of multiyear diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI) goals in alignment with the museum’s Strategic Plan and grounded in the following commitments: expand the histories the museum examines and shares; partner with our communities; and center equity, inclusion, and accountability in our culture and decision-making.OverviewReporting to the Manager of Digital Production, the Videographer is responsible for working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders from multiple departments across the museum, taking ideas from concepts to final visual outcomes that connect with a broad range of audiences through compelling, high quality video and web content. Leveraging stakeholders’ concepts, the Videographer is responsible for developing those ideas through the use of storyboards and scripts, shooting video onsite and offsite, creating motion graphics and special effects, and editing and producing all final outcomes, as well as maintaining all equipment.Primary ResponsibilitiesVideography and Production
  • Collaborates with the Manager of Digital Production to create all institutional video, audio, and digital content for use across platforms in alignment with the strategic priorities of the museum.
  • Works within the digital production team and with stakeholders across the museum to transform traditional content, such as exhibitions (still photography and hard copy publications) and in-person experiences (such as programs and public events) into engaging video for multiple virtual audiences and outlets.
  • Uses storyboards, scripts, and other tools to communicate visually and describe ideas effectively before projects begin.
  • Shoots all necessary raw video and, in partnership with the Imaging and Rights Coordinator, sources all supplemental digital content.
  • Edits video, graphics, and photo content, as well as effectively incorporates feedback from stakeholders, for inclusion in final projects.
  • Stewards projects from inception to completion.
  • Stays engaged with and committed to evolving best practices in video accessibility.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Quality Control
  • Maintains equipment and keeps an inventory.
  • Maintains a well-organized digital archive of raw footage and finished content.
  • Ensures the quality of all video content leaving the department.

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years experience working in film/video production.
  • Must be familiar with the use and operation of video cameras and capture techniques.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and remain informed about best practices in cultural heritage, the digital landscape, and videography.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of studio lighting, color management, and composition.
  • Must have demonstrated effective communication and organization skills, including research, writing and editing, as well as attention to detail.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to collaborate generously and communicate clearly within a small team.
  • Must have collaboration skills, with an openness to critical dialogue and a commitment to the museum's values and art collection.
SCHEDULE: Standard workweek is 9am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Must have flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.Annual salary range: $38,000 - $48,000 depending upon experience.The Walters Art Museum provides an excellent comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, prescription, vision, subsidized transportation and parking, museum membership, short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, FSA (flexible spending account), 457b retirement, and free professional financial management counseling.
All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The museum does not sponsor work visas.
