Job Title: Kitchen and Nutrition Coordinator

Location: Northern Hills Child Care

Job Type: Full Time

Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen and Nutrition Coordinator to join our child care team. This role involves overseeing the food preparation and nutrition planning, maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen, and managing food-related documentation and inventory. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with DHHS child care licensing standards and contribute to a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment for children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation and Menu Planning:
    • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children according to a pre-planned menu.
    • Plan weekly menus keeping in mind nutritional needs and dietary restrictions.
    • Ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner according to the schedule.
  • Sanitation and Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean kitchen by performing daily cleaning duties including dishes, sweeping, and mopping.
    • Regularly take out the trash and ensure disposal areas are kept clean and sanitary.
    • Adhere to health and safety standards to maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure adequate supplies.
    • Order kitchen supplies and food while managing budget constraints.
    • Maintain records of inventory to avoid shortages and overstock.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
    • Manage and document billing for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
    • Ensure all kitchen operations comply with DHHS child care licensing standards.
    • Keep accurate records of meal counts, food purchases, and other relevant documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in food preparation and kitchen management, preferably in a child care environment.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs of children.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further training in culinary arts or nutrition is a plus.

Certifications:

  • Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain.

Salary Range: $12-$14 per hour
