The Westervelt Company is Hiring a Dry End Superintendent - Thomasville Near Thomasville, AL

The Dry End Superintendent is responsible for day-to-day safety, quality and production operations for the Planer Mill, Shipping, and the Dry Kilns. He/she will work closely with Maintenance, Technical Services, Quality Control, Business Acquisition and Human Resources to meet customer expectations and corporate strategies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure all safety regulations are complied with and employees have a safe environment to work in.
Coordinate with planer mill, shipping, and dry kiln departments to ensure production targets are met in a cost-effective manner. This includes process design, process improvements, effective team building, and performance reviews.
Coordinate with business acquisition to ensure quality standards are met and levels of customer service remain high.
Coordinate with Human Resources to staff planer mill, shipping, and dry kiln positions in the mill, ensure all labor laws and regulations are enforced, and a hospitable work environment is maintained.
Maintain all equipment in the planer mill, shipping, and dry kiln departments.
Develop dry end department's personnel for advancement, succession planning, and follow appropriate disciplinary procedures when needed.
Troubleshoot and solve technical problems that occur in operations.
Engineer process improvements to eliminate downtime, improve quality, and reduce costs within their departments.
Provide overall leadership and direction to first line supervisors in areas such as safety, environmental, production scheduling, productivity, and quality for their department.
Collaborate with the sales group to determine the best product mix for production under current market conditions.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.
8 years of relevant work experience.
Sawmill manufacturing leadership experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven leadership ability.
Business and Financial knowledge.
Technical knowledge.

The base salary range for this position is $91,600 - $146,600. Actual base salary is based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
