How you’ll make an impact: The Technical Designer will have established categories of responsibility to deliver timely and accurate tech packs in accordance with business calendar deadlines. In this role, the Technical Designer will need to work vertically to manage their category-specific work in a timely manner, meeting deliverable expectations. In this role, the Technical Designer will have supervisory support for guidance, development and training. This role typical reports into Sr. Technical Designer and has no direct reports. This position requires an intermediate level of technical, process management and problem-solving skills. Duties include but not limited to below details: Apparel Development- 100% Management of tech pack development and associated tasks of assigned categories Cross-Functional Collaboration- 25% Market Trend Awareness; understanding how trends align with seasonal and brand strategy Ability to Interpret design fit intention and apply market trend POV where applicable Cost Engineering / Manufacturing knowledge Awareness and alignment of how to support brand identity Tech Pack Development- 50% Grading knowledge across size ranges and genders Creative POV to execute fit consistency across sizes Provide constructions options for the right value equation of the product Proactively manage overlapping deliverables and resolve issues to meet deadlines while retaining quality execution of tech packs Fabric knowledge and application Patternmaking knowledge Safety and regulatory knowledge Sample Review and Collaboration- 20% Patternmaking and manufacturing knowledge Ensure design and fit intent execute as desired and to tech pack specifications Influence decisions to maintain fit integrity & manufacturing efficiency while supporting business needs Lead and support fit sessions & discussions as needed, analyze fit and accurately communicate corrections of assigned product category Establishing Technical Design Standards- 5% Lead and support efforts as needed to implement established standards Support brands’ fit identity across categories as “brand ambassador” We’d Love to hear from you if: (Requirements section) Must have: Technical skills Intermediate Understanding of Grading, and ASTM Standards Intermediate Patternmaker Across Multiple Categories- Basics and Fashion Intermediate Market Trend Awareness Strong Production Manufacturing / Construction Knowledge Fabric Knowledge- Fit to Fabric Performance Impacts Leadership Skills Internal and Cross-functional Relationship Building Influential Strategic Decision Making Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Problem Solving Adaptive to Shifting Business Strategies Technology Skills Some Data Analytics and Interpretation Software Skills: 3D Skills- CLO, Browzwear, Optitex (preferred) Gerber Accumark- 2D PLM Software Adobe Suite Software, including Illustrator, Acrobat and Photoshop Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word and PowerPoint Education 6-8 Years Apparel Technical Design and Product Development Associates Degree- Related Field (preferred) OR 4 Years Apparel Technical Design and Product Development Experience Bachelors Degree – Related Field Minimum 2 Years TD Experience OUR Team Members: Lead Courageously: Have a strong sense of personal values that align with our Company values Collaborates Broadly: Build cooperation, trust, and thrive in a consensus driven environment Customer Focus: Proactively seek opportunities to leverage data and fact-based insights to serve customers and/or internal clients Drive Growth: Set aggressive goals and implement plans precisely Cultivates Innovation: Respectfully challenge the “we’ve always done it this way” mentality and explore new ways to achieve desired outcomes Recruit and Grow Talent Make a career at Carter’s: Career Development: Success starts from within, and we have several paths from which you can choose to enhance your career evolution.
