Responsibilities
- Prepares the surgical suite:
- Sets up drapes, sterile solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Ensures all equipment and instruments are in good working order
- Assists with patient care:
- Helps prepare patients for surgery, including transporting, positioning, and draping
- Functions as part of the surgical team during procedures:
- Accurately passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon
- Continuously monitors and maintains a sterile field
- Maintains an accurate count of all instruments and supplies throughout the surgery
- Handles specimens:
- Receives and processes surgical specimens for proper delivery to the laboratory
- Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or a related field (preferred)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical setting (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong understanding of surgical asepsis and sterile technique
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
