The South Wood County YMCA is seeking a cause-driven leader to join our team!
Job DescriptionThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Associate Childcare Director at the South Wood County YMCA creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while instructing children in accordance with the goals, policies, and procedures of both the state licensing and the department.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in early childhood or the equivalent to and continuing education in the field, preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years working in a licensed childcare facility, preferred.
  • All required licensing and young star certifications/knowledge or willingness to acquire certifications/knowledge as a first priority upon being hired.
  • Knowledge of Young Star Regulations as required by Wisconsin State Licensing Laws.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certificate gained within first 30 days of employment.
  • Obtain Shaken Baby, Sudden Infant Death, and Mandated Reporter Training before hire. If not completed, this will be provided for you on your first day of employment.
  • Must register with the Wisconsin Childcare Registry within 30 days of employment and keep certificate current.
  • Prior experience in staff and volunteer supervision preferred.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products preferred.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Possess communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must complete all new hire orientations.
Essential Functions
  • Provide direct assistance to Sr. Director of Childcare and act as support staff for all childcare and Kids Clubhouse sites throughout South Wood County.
  • Provide oversight, direction, and guidance to childcare lead and assistant teachers.
  • Working with the Senior Director of Childcare, create, implement, train, and utilize systems as it pertains to organized programming, tracking, and reporting.
  • Attend all leadership team meetings, as required/scheduled.
  • Support provided policy and oversight for discipline, appropriate interventions, and behavior modification methods for students in the program.
  • Participate and support in a constant and consistent communication system for parents and caregivers.
  • Participate in problem-solving, including defusing stressful situations with a sound spirit, mind, and body.
  • Engage with schools, parents, students, and peers using high emotional intelligence and understanding that relationships are a core value in program success.
  • Coordinate staff scheduling, and childcare operations including assisting but not limited to recruiting, hiring, and training qualified staff, substitutes, and volunteers.
  • Fill in as Childcare Director when the Director is absent or on vacation.
  • Keep milk and CACFP food program documentation and reporting up to date.
  • Process State Assistance and/or 3rd party payers to ensure childcare transactions are paid in a timely manner.
  • Act as the primary lead for implementing and managing childcare best practices for quality assurance in all childcare programs.
  • Substitutes teach and provide hands-on experience for the children at the SWC YCMCA and affiliated sites.
  • Maintain communication with childcare staff, families, and the childcare office.
  • Prioritize workloads to meet deadlines, displaying exemplary organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in both accounts’ payables and receivables
  • Ability to aid in grant writing/reporting, record keeping, and preparing and providing tax statements.
  • Exemplifies and role models the YMCA’s four core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications
