Job Description

We are currently seeking a medical biller/coder & supervisor for our York office. The chosen candidate will be responsible for various tasks including managing the front desk and financial check-out process for all patients in the practice, member of the RCM team, and overseeing accounts receivable management and follow-up for all patient medical services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervisor, reporting to the VP of Operations and the Director of RCM.
    • Responsible for managing front desk representative, intake, and internal team
  • Ensure accurate coding of relevant diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers directly from the medical record.
  • Review and resolve coding-related edits and errors affecting claim submission.
  • Timely submission of charges or data entry for coded services.
  • Apply principles of commercial insurance reimbursement to ensure proper claim submission.
  • Identify coding and billing errors, address denials, and resubmit claims as necessary.
  • Make informed decisions on bundled services, inclusions, exclusions, and code sequencing.
  • Verify and accurately enter patient insurance information for timely claims processing and reduced denials.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians and staff to ensure accurate billing and coding.
  • Assist in educating providers on billing issues identified through ongoing reviews of submitted claims, supporting the Billing Manager.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient data and medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a customer service-oriented approach, representing the company professionally and handling patient issues with sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of coding and documentation requirements outlined by CPT, ICD-10, and CMS for all physician services performed.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, and surgical techniques to effectively apply CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Prior experience in medical billing is required.
  • Perform any other duties and tasks assigned by the management team.
