In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects with the potential to make a significant impact in the scientific community.

What will you do?

• Perform cell culture techniques (cell maintenance, cell screening, cell banking, transfection, etc.) for required experimental objectives.
• Design and conduct experiments, accurately analyzing data, and interpreting results.
• Share research findings with colleagues within the organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of research projects.
• Work in a matrix environment to conceive, design, and implement strategies to address current challenges associated with virus production.
• Maintain accurate lab notebooks and training files in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher required standards to support patent application and defense as well as other international standards (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.).

KEYS TO SUCCESS
Education

• B.S. degree in Cell Biology or related scientific field with 2 years of experience; or M.S. degree in Cell Biology or related field with 6 months related experience. Coops and internships can be applied towards total experience with either BA or MS degrees.

Experience

• Knowledge of transient protein expression and production systems.

• Strong mammalian cell culture skills (293, CHO), insect cell culture a plus.
• Transient protein transfection/expression, and upstream process development.
• Downstream protein purification and quality assessment a plus.
• Standard molecular biology techniques including DNA cloning, plasmid preparation and purification.
• Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques including PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, d/ddPCR, ELISA, transfection, and flow cytometry a plus.
• Familiarity with viral vector production (ie. AAV/LV) a plus.
• Proven track record of completing tasks within established timelines.
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking capabilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific results in a clear, concise, accurate manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrate ability to generate new insights, achieve results and solve problems.
