The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems and solutions for projects within the Marine, Offshore, and Defense sectors. While preference is given to Newport News, VA, other locations will be considered based on individual circumstances. Responsibilities: Electrical System Design: Develop marine electrical systems encompassing power distribution, lighting, communication, control systems, and safety systems, adhering to industry standards and regulations. Electrical Studies: Perform power system analysis using software such as SKM, Matlab/Simulink, ensuring compliance with requirements for Short Circuit Analysis, Load flow studies, motor starting studies, etc. Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and requirements. Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities. Technical Documentation: Create detailed technical specifications, schematics, and diagrams essential for system design, implementation, and maintenance. Component Selection: Identify and select appropriate electrical components, considering factors like reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify hazards, ensure safety compliance, and implement mitigation measures. Testing and Validation: Develop testing procedures to validate system functionality and performance, analyzing test data for optimization. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to integrate electrical systems seamlessly with mechanical and control systems. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues during installation, commissioning, and operation. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and propose innovative solutions to enhance system efficiency and performance. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs adhere to relevant industry standards and international codes. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical system design, preferably in maritime or oil and gas sectors. Proficiency in design and simulation software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB, ETAP). Strong understanding of industry regulations and standards (e.g., IEEE, USCG). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements. Legally authorized to work in the United States; U.S. DoD PCL eligibility required.
