ThisWay is Hiring a Workers Compensation Underwriter Near Houston, TX

Our partner is looking for an experienced Workers Compensation Underwriter in Houston, TX. This company is dedicated to building a stronger, safer Texas. The underwriter will assess and calculate the risk of loss for policyholders with complex risks, establish appropriate premium rates, and meet corporate production goals. This role involves collaboration with agents to write and service complex accounts within assigned authority levels.
Responsibilities
  • Write new and renewal workers' compensation insurance policies to meet company written premium goals.
  • Evaluate applications, reports, information, and coverage requests and apply departmental and regulatory guidelines to determine risk acceptability.
  • Negotiate account pricing and coverage with agents within a designated level of authority.
  • Participate in the management and development of an assigned group of agents through field visits, completion of service requests, and identifying and pursuing appropriate business opportunities.
  • Analyze workload, establish priorities, and manage the desk to focus on agents' needs while meeting quality and time service standards for processing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • At least two years of experience for an Underwriter II or at least four years of experience for a Senior Underwriter or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Preferred: CPCU, CIC, ARM, and other recognized industry-related designations.
  • Valid driver's license.
