Thomas Byrne Associates is Hiring a Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst Hybrid Near Hartford, CT

Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst (Hybrid):

In this role, you will be a part of our Administration Department assisting with the evaluation and preparation of financial data as well as key initiatives to improve business performance. You will use your strong accounting skills to support monthly close and general accounting. Further, you will be a key support to the CFO and Director or Accounting on both strategic and operational financial analytical projects. As a member of a detail-oriented team in an ever-evolving environment, we both encourage and require your candid feedback; and will foster your existing ownership mentality and commitment to continuous improvement to perpetually enhance our internal efficiency. This position will require a high degree of both confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Full ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close processes for four entities
  • Preparation and analysis of core financial statements
  • Participate in the preparation and analysis of budget and forecasts
  • Work directly with the Director of Finance/Admin and Admin Manager on key strategic Financial Initiatives which may include planning and analysis, profit assessments, and big-picture transactions.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow
  • Preparation of documentation for accurate and timely tax filings and coordination with external tax accountant
  • Assisting with other operational responsibilities which may include assistance with Human Resources, Compliance or Property Management – 25%
  • Provide excellent customer service while assisting our Client Experience department as needed – 10%

This is a hybrid position, with the potential to be in the office up to 1 day a week. When not in the office, our team has been set up to work from home with full functionality. To be successful in our culture, you will be a driven, focused, career minded individual and while working remotely. We require local residents for this role (within 50 miles from Glastonbury).

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting rules and procedures, general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
  • Exposure to budgeting and planning is preferred
  • Experience in public audit is considered a plus
  • Analytical skills
  • Attention to detail, good follow through & communication skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in high-pressure environment
  • High focus on continuously improving systems
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Intermediate to advanced skills of Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Indexing, etc.)
