Our client in Fort Worth is seeking a Mortgage Accountant on a contract basis.
SUMMARY:
The Mortgage Accounting position plays a crucial role in managing the financial transactions related to investor accounts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and mortgage servicing.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain accurate records of investor accounts, including fund transfers, disbursements, and reconciliations.
• Reconcile investor accounts with internal records and external fund administrators to resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and fund agreements.
• Deep dive analysis of cash outages, identify the accurate reason and collaborate with the appropriate stakeholder to clear the cash outage.
• Root cause analysis of exception report (internal/external) to make required data corrections.
• Knowledge of investor guidelines. Mortgage, cash distribution to loan and general ledger.
• Payment posting, payment reversals and correspondence GL entries
• Other duties as assigned.

• Extended keyboarding.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 2-5 years Mortgage Servicing knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and fund administration.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and database management.
• Intermediate to expert in Microsoft Excel.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and tax reporting is preferred.
• Knowledge of Jack Henry (JHA) Silverlake System
