Job Overview:

Support engineering by creating, modifying, and releasing drawings under the supervision of Engineering. Assist with process improvement in areas of need and interest pertaining to safety, productivity, quality, cost reduction and/or timeliness. Serve as a resource provider and facilitator in support of organizational processes through cost justifying, coordinating, and implementing improvement projects to enhance quality, productivity, and safety in a timely manner. Serve as a resource to the sales and manufacturing departments to facilitate new and current product design needs. Develop innovative solutions through conferring with sales and manufacturing to develop the optimal product design that meets customer needs and the needs of Thombert manufacturing.

New Product Development:

• Use the customers print or physical part to draw appropriate product prints using Solid Works program
• Design and create models and drawings for supporting new product manufacturing such as molds, lids, pins, lathe fixtures and paint masks

Production & Sales:

• Set up product structures for new parts
• Facilitate Engineering Change Notices
• Assist with creating Standard Work Instructions for operators
• Complete needed production part approval process
• Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues and determine root causes
• Analyze current processes and offer suggestions for improvement

Purchasing & Inspections:

• Work with Purchasing to order new tooling and products
• Inform Purchasing of any print revisions
• Receive and inspect new tooling before releasing new product to production
• Submit new product inspection files, communicate issues/concerns to Manufacturing Manager, notify purchasing of release

Machining:

• Assist in developing and standardization of set-up sheets
• Assist in adjusting or creating programs on CNC machines

General Management:

• Project documentation, organization, and reporting
• Drafting new or review of changes to documentation
• Storage of records per form designations

Requirements for success:

• Education: 2 - 4 years college degree preferred; general business or trade focus
• Background with general manufacturing skills: measuring tools, blueprint reading, etc. preferred
• Experience with FANUC robot programming
• Prior work in manufacturing environment
• Computer: Excel, Word, Power Point, Solid Works software
• Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Effective time management and self-motivation; ability to communicate well; attention to detail; focus on accuracy; flexibility, the ability to understand and conform in order to meet customer needs; creative problem solving skills and analytical ability; ability to learn all job functions; proficient mathematical skills; proficient drafting skills using Solid Works; work closely with Engineering to meet goals; willingness to modify and expand position; and ability to be pro-active and provide suggestions and solutions to gain success.
