Position Summary

• Sell and Rent On-Highway trucks, Hydro-Vac’s, Terminal Tractors and Trailers to existing/new accounts. 

• Grow our sales volume and market share with new customers, while achieving acceptable profit margins.

• Grow our sales volume and market share with existing customers, while achieving acceptable profit margins

• Follow up closely after the sale, and make sure appropriate team members satisfy the customer, solve problems, and build relationships in advance of the next transaction.

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations

• Prospect for new customers, network with existing customers in the truck and trailer market

• Qualify truck sales leads in Thompson’s territory and enter the CRM system

• Sell used trucks from Thompson’s used/trade inventory. 

• Sell new/used trailers to all qualified customers.

• Estimate truck trade-in values and assist in selling/disposing of used/trade trucks. 

• Communicate financing and leasing services provided by CFSC and other financial institutions to our customers who are considering the purchase or rent/lease of a truck or trailer

• Ensure all truck registrations, licensing, tax, financing, warranty documents and titling are completed and submitted properly before and after delivering truck(s)/trailer(s) to a customer.

• Participate in truck industry events and associations.

• Interact with Thompson Tractor employees who support the truck and trailer market throughout its service life. Key areas include credit managers, truck parts and service managers.

• Embrace and support Thompson’s mission, values, culture, and assist the company in achieving its Critical Success Factors. 

Additional Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:

• Purchasing

o Create agreements/contracts

o Facilitate logistics of moving fleet

o Manage credit requests and insurance needs of sales/rentals

o Maintain accurate inventory locations

o Maintain sales records

o Maintain records of purchase orders

o Maintain records of registrations/title work

• Sales/Rental Support

o Initiate quotes for sales/rental

o Communicate with customer details of sale/rental, i.e. P.O., invoicing, lead time, site contacts, delivery times and pickup times

• Sales/Rental Administration

o Update market values and asking prices

• Other duties assigned as needed
