We are looking to add an exceptional Technical Writer to our Training team! This newly created role is in response to an innovation explosion that is happening at ThompsonGas! We are investing heavily in multiple systems that will revolutionize the way we serve our customers, interact and support each other and grow our business!
In this role you will support the operational needs of ThompsonGas by creating high-quality technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support and communicate to a diverse audience. You will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SME), System Developers and other stakeholders to produce resources that support the day-to-day operations of various systems along with initial trainings and program rollouts. This role will report directly to the Director of Training and will be based out of our Huntsville, AL Customer Experience Center or the Corporate office located in Frederick, MD. Candidates should be flexible to travel up to 20% as research and collaboration requires.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a writer and editor of written system-related process documents
  • Actively seek collaboration with SMEs to gather information and insights necessary for creating comprehensive SOPs
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of SOPs
  • Collaborate with project leaders to organize and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines
  • Translate technical information into easily understandable and accessible documents to ensure the success of the end user
  • Continue to maintain and improve SOP templates, style guides and storage solutions to ensure consistency across all documentation
  • Maintain version control by review, edit, and revise existing documents as needed to reflect system innovations and procedure changes
  • Work closely with the training team on initiatives and projects to ensure consistency between visual and eLearning resources and written documentation
  • Willingness to continue to invest in YOU staying updated on industry best practices and trends in technical writing and SOP development
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications And Experience
  • 2 – 3 years of technical writing, document writing or similar required.
  • Degree or equivalent experience required in English, Technical Writing, Communication, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with an acute attention to detail.
  • A lean in approach to curiosity and a thirst for understanding the systems and processes front to back.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Canva, Adobe Acrobat and applicable tools.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively while producing best-in-class resources.
  • Self-directed and motivated to continue learning and be more effective.
  • Experience working in the energy industry is preferred but not required.
