Thorne Research is Hiring a LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT TRAINER Near SUMMERVILLE, SC

POSITION SUMMARY: The Learning and Development Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for both corporate and manufacturing employees. This role involves collaborating with department leaders and instructional designers to create engaging and effective training materials. The trainer will conduct training sessions for new hires and existing employees, helping all personnel, from production operators to leadership, acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles efficiently. Additionally, the trainer will assess the success of training initiatives by evaluating learning outcomes and knowledge transfer, continuously improving training solutions to meet evolving organizational needs.

FLSA STATUS: The U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to classify their employees as being either exempt or non-exempt for the purpose of being paid overtime wages. The essential duties of this job are such that the employee is classified according to the FLSA as an EXEMPT employee.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: <15%

RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of best practices in adult learning and instructional design.
  • Train and collaborate with department trainers at all levels and within all functions to ensure training continuity for new and tenured employees.
  • Partner with management to analyze, identify and execute training needs and objectives in support of organizational goals and group and/or individual training needs.
  • Partner with department leaders to personally deliver or support the department manager’s delivery of training to new and existing production operators in all aspects of manufacturing, non-production personnel, and leadership.
  • In conjunction with managers and instructional designers, facilitate the creation of new, and as required, revised training materials, providing suggestions to increase training effectiveness via materials, delivery models, training of trainers, and timely distribution of training materials such as outlines, training manuals, multimedia visual aids, text, and handouts.
  • Evaluate training success by assessing learning objectives and knowledge transfer to continuously improve and identify future needs.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills to build strong relationships across departments and positions. Handle stress well and foster a positive, productive atmosphere.
  • Coordinate schedules and facilities set-up for training presentations and classes, including equipment.
  • Support LMS management.
  • Flexibility with scheduling; will include evenings and some weekends.
  • Actively participate in all required training and development programs and electives as may suit one’s needs, and support colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts.

What You Need:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in BSc/BA in Business, Psychology, or Education. Four (4) years of corporate training experience required, two (2) of which have been in a manufacturing environment and two (2) years of LMS management experience required. Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Learning and Performance, Certified professional in Talent Development) highly desirable.
