Thornton Fractional High School District #215 is Hiring a Residency Coordinator Near Lansing, IL

Job/FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services & Equity
Position summary: Investigate and verify residency of incoming students and provide clerical services to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services/Equity.
Position Responsibilities
  • Act as District’s McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison
  • Act as primary contact for National Investigations and CLEAR
  • Work with school registrars to manage residency verification
  • Create and maintain files for Student Services department
  • Compile data and prepare reports for Illinois State Board of Education in IWAS, FRIS, and CRDC
  • Investigate residency of new and incoming students and document findings
  • Prepare documentation for residency hearings
  • Monitor residency hotline and respond when necessary
  • Contact principals to report residency investigation results
  • Work directly with Assistant Superintendent of Student Services & Equity and Pupil Personnel Services department regarding residency
  • Coordinate activities and ensure compliance for Secondary Transitional Experience Program (STEP)/DRS grant
  • Coordinates special education transportation
  • Attend meetings with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) representatives for STEP
  • Provide clerical services to the Assistant Superintendent in the absence of their Executive Assistant
  • Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills And Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office machines/equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to maintain good attendance
Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
  • Experience working in a high school setting
  • Working knowledge of PowerSchool
  • 3-5 years of secretarial or clerical experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred

Terms Of Employment
  • Full-time, 12-month work year;
  • Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) position;
  • Starting salary between $40,000 and $45,000;
  • Generous fringe benefits as provided by the current Work Rules & Regulations for Administrative Support Staff;
  • Annual performance evaluation based on Board of Education policy and the Work Rules & Regulations for Administrative Support Staff;
  • Paid 30-minute lunch and two paid 15-minute breaks;
  • Sick, personal, and vacation days;
  • 15 paid holidays.
