Harley-Davidson Service Assistant (Porter)
Job Details:
Wash and detail all bikes that go through the Service Department:
- Wash Motorcycles. Ensure they are cleaner than when the customer dropped them off.
- Detail new and used motorcycles.
- Check the schedule daily for any deliveries and pick-ups.
- Drive the company truck with the appropriate trailer for pick up or delivery.
- Assist Technicians with getting parts for jobs.
- Removing boxes and trash from their work bays.
- Moving motorcycles.
- Greet external customers immediately, in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Handle requests quickly, and courteously.
Shop Custodian:
- Keep the shop free from debris and trash.
- Empty trash cans daily.
- Sweep and mop the shop floor.
- Clean the shop restrooms including the shower room.
- Check the condition of any vehicle prior to driving it.
- Keep company vehicles up to date on routine maintenance schedules.
- Report any repair needs on vehicles or equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment.
- Follow directions
- Ask questions when in doubt
- Wear appropriate shop uniforms each and every day.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Complete all training programs and their related tests by the required deadlines. The service manager assigns all required training.
- Valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement or willing to take the Learn to Ride program within one month of hire at employee cost.
- Good driving record with no serious violations.
- Prior retail experience preferred.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to accept and follow directions
- Demonstrated willingness to work flexible hours.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Requires the use of both hands.
- Occasionally requires the ability to balance and push an 800 lb. motorcycle.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, handle tools and lift 50 lbs. of material.
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department.
- Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement.
- Must be able to drive a pickup truck with a trailer safely.
- Must be an experienced motorcycle rider.
- Must be able to move all makes and models of motorcycles safely and with confidence.
