Part-time Staff Accountant - Thurston County Chamber of Commerce

Created in 1874, the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce is a community leader, steering prosperity in Thurston County. We work with an array of community partnerships, ranging from private businesses, non-profits, and government, to address the challenges and opportunities before our community. This position offers 20 – 24 hours/week, schedule to be set upon hire between office hours of 8 AM to 5 PM.

Wage Range: $25-$30/hour

Reports to Finance Officer

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists the Finance Officer in preparing monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Utilization of Customer Relationship Management System for data entry, invoicing, reporting, and processing applications.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Performs the monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheets
• Reconciles customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Assists in the preparation of documents for annual audits.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software (QuickBooks).

Education and Experience:

• Two years of accounting or finance experience
• Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Bachelors in Accounting is preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
