Are you passionate about making a difference in your community and ensuring public safety? Thurston County Emergency Management is seeking a part time, 20 hours per week, dynamic and dedicated Emergency Management Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in safeguarding our community through coordination activities with community partners, county departments, regional agencies, and the private sector. In this pivotal role, you will focus on providing comprehensive emergency management support to unincorporated Thurston County. You will also guide the development, refinement, and implementation of a strong Continuity of Operations Planning program across county departments, ensuring that Thurston County remains resilient and prepared for any emergency. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Coordinates emergency preparedness and planning support to unincorporated jurisdictions within Thurston County, other local government, state and federal agencies, and the private sector.Assists with on-going revisions and maintenance of aspects of the jurisdictional Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and Emergency Support Functions, the Hazard Mitigation Plan and other emergency management plans, policies, and procedures.Coordinates a county-wide departmental Continuity of Operations (COOP) program.Assists with the maintenance, operation, activation, and support of the Emergency Coordination Center.Develops and provides emergency preparedness training, exercise, and education presentations.Serves as a representative on local, tribal, regional, and statewide teams and work groups.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, education, industrial safety, law enforcement, or related field.Three years experience in the areas of emergency preparedness, industrial safety, public administration, education, adult training and exercise coordination, curriculum design and development, training and exercises in emergency management, law enforcement, fire service industrial safety, public administration or closely related area. Additional experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.Ability to utilize a personal computer with applicable software to successfully perform essential functions of the position.Current Washington State Driver's License or have requested and obtained an appropriate accommodation.
