Thurston County is Hiring an Office Assistant II - 618CO Near Thurston, WA

**This is a project position that is expected to end no later than December 31, 2024**
**The screening process for this position is ongoing and will continue until the position is filled. The Thurston County Auditor's Office reserves the right to close the recruitment at any time.** This Office Assistant II is aproject position that is in the mid-level general office support classification, within a generic series. Work within this classification may include serving as the department/office primary receptionist, typing a wide variety of documents including letters, memos, and reports (including editing, and proofreading and determining proper format). In this position, you are generally expected to make judgments about the methods used to accomplish assigned work, with work being reviewed on a regular basis by a supervisor. Other responsibilities typical of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
  • Set up data base programs or other basic information tracking programs, gathers data, inputs data, retrieves information, and produces reports.
  • Create and maintain logs, and utilizes information to perform tasks such as processing applications and issuing standardized letters.
  • May perform any of the duties assigned to the Office Assistant I.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of general office experience which includes responsibility for performing a full range of office support tasks, including experience providing information and assistance to the general public.
  • Ability to utilize a personal computer and related software to perform word processing and data management. 
  • Washington State Driver's License may be required.
  • Ability to type 55 wpm.
  • Knowledge of advanced telephone/reception techniques.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques.
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Knowledge of money handling practices and basic math.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
