The company, that is part of DeCarbon Technologies segment of thyssenkrupp, has extensive in-depth knowledge in the engineering, procurement, and construction of electrochemical plants and a strong track record of more than 600 projects with a total rating of over 10 gigawatts already successfully installed. Utilizing the over 50 years of experience in Chlor Alkali field as foundation, the company is expanding to the field of water electrolysis technology to produce green hydrogen in an innovative way on an industrial scale for green value chains and an industry fueled by clean energy – a major step towards climate-neutrality.
Position Overview:The Manager for Strategic Planning and Government Affairs will play a crucial role in engaging with legislative bodies at the local, state, and federal levels, as well as government agencies. This position involves championing the organization's interests through effective representation and taking the lead in negotiating government contracts. As the primary point of contact for all interactions related to governmental affairs, the manager will leverage their expertise to navigate the complexities of public policy, fostering strategic partnerships, and ensuring successful government negotiations that align with the organization's goals and mission.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare government contracts, ensuring alignment with the conditions, restrictions, and goals of sponsoring organizations
  • Negotiate with sponsors, fostering understanding and agreement on contractual details
  • Oversee project administration ensuring compliance with agreement terms and maximize efficiency
  • Monitor administration of governments contract negotiations, ensuring timely submission of documentation and requests
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with government entities and agencies
  • Join trade associations, industry committees, and seek leadership roles to collaborate on common interests
  • Monitor and analyze government policies, legislative developments, and regulatory changes that could impact the company's operations and financial objectives
  • Identify and assess financial support mechanisms and incentives offered by government programs, facilitating the utilization of available resources
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide insights on potential government impacts and propose strategies to address challenges and leverage opportunities
  • Represent thyssenkrupp nucera in meetings and engagements with government officials, articulating the company's position and advocating for policies that align with our goals
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and the ability to stay current on regulations
  • Strong government contacts at local, state, and federal levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Qualifications/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Public Relations, or related field required; MBA or law degree preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience in advocacy or public policy required
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
