REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 23 years old (Required)
Possess Only One CDL, Issued in the State of Residence (Required)
One Year Over The Road Experience Under a DOT Certified Carrier (Required)
Possess a Tanker Endorsement (Required)
Possess a HazMat Endorsement (Preferred)
Ability to Obtain Additional Necessary Endorsements to Perform the Duties
Must Supply a 10-Year Work History
Able to Verify the Past Three Years of Employment
Pass a DOT Physical and Drug Screen
Be Eligible for a Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC) or Passport
Possess a DOT Medical Certification With No Waivers
Ability to Read, Write, and Speak the English Language (Required)
No More Than One Moving Violation in the Past 3 Years (CMV)
No More Than One Preventable Accident in the Past 3 Years
No Alcohol or Drug-Related Convictions in the Last 7 Years
No Alcohol or Drug-Related Convictions or Violations While Operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle
No Violent Felony Convictions
Must Be Able to Pass a Respirator or Pulmonary Function Test, If Necessary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that commodities are loaded, transported, and delivered in accordance with the Tidewater Transit Drivers Operating Procedures and all pertinent regulations.
Verify all information for transport of commodity on paperwork assigned by dispatcher is accurate and correct.
Ensure that the transport can be done in accordance with all regulations.
Check equipment to ensure that it is proper and clean for the type of commodity to be transported and for safe operation.
Load the commodity in accordance with instructions from the Tidewater Transit Operating Procedures.
Transport the commodity in accordance with all company, local, and federal regulations.
Unload the commodity in accordance with instructions from the Tidewater Transit Operating Procedures.
Ensure copies of TWT Quality Assurance Brief and a Delivery receipt form are in possession prior to departing for load pick up.
Pre-trip inspection of equipment is accomplished in accordance with Tidewater Transit Operating Procedures. Ensure that the tractor and trailer number are the same as dispatch.
If the commodity has not been pre-loaded by the customer, then either load or vacuum the commodity in accordance with instructions from the Tidewater Transit Operating Procedures.
During transport, the driver must obey all local, state, and federal regulations, including weight, speed, hours of service, and maintenance of log and vehicle.
Off-load commodity is in accordance with Tidewater Transit Operating Procedures with special emphasis to ensure TWT Quality Assurance Brief is completed prior to off-loading.
Turn in all paperwork when the trip is complete.
