Description

HR Specialist

Department/Location: HR / Hawks Prairie

Employee Reports to: HR Director

FLSA: Salary / Exempt position

Status: Full-Time 76-80 Hours

Rate of Pay: Grade 20/ $57,200 - $71,760 annually

Summary/Objective:

This position serves as HR Specialist, supporting the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs to deliver value-added service to all employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Research employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value for the organization’s needs.
  • Design, recommend and implement new benefits programs. Examine possible plan designs and benefit cost changes.
  • Negotiate with vendors and administrators for best plans, options, and rates.
  • Serve as the primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting.
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, termination of benefits, qualifying event changes, beneficiaries, retirement, disability, accident, accommodations, special leaves, and death claims.
  • Coordinate with Payroll to follow up as needed on benefits billing inquiries.
  • Analyze current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits programs, and identify the company’s stance.
  • Perform plan audits. Prepare, collect, and organize data assessments.
  • Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration funding.
  • Manage and maintain the organizational wellness initiative program at Timberland Bank. Facilitate ongoing wellness training events.
  • Organize and implement an annual employee benefits and wellness fair, either virtually or in-person.
  • Act as back up the HR team for Talent Acquisition and HRIS systems as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute organization benefit communication
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Update Job Descriptions
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee request and questions.
  • Onboard new employees in HRIS system
  • Completes forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files
  • Submits online employee background checks
  • Processes employee terminations

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Communication, Business Administration or related field of study OR equivalency of work experience
  • 5 or more years of HR experience
  • Advanced proficiency with software such as Microsoft Suite and standard office equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of HRIS systems and processes.
  • Experience administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting benefits for employees.
  • Knowledge of federals and state employment law requirement and compliance.
  • HR Certification such as SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or HRCI-PHR/SPHR or passing certification within 120 days of employment.

  • Able to plan, track, analyze and communicate performance data to inform business decisions.
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain strict confidentiality when performing duties of position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative manner on execution of duties when appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize relevant information to create visually compelling presentations that simplify the communication of complex information and enhance comprehension.
  • Superior relationship management and operational experience, analytical and problem-solving skills and project management skills.
  • Well organized, detail oriented and high level of self-motivation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven delivery of HR workforce solutions to complex organizational challenges.
  • Proven ability to train and present to small and large audiences.
