Tioga Downs is searching for both Full-Time and Part-Time Cosmetologists to join our team at Serenity Spa located in our hotel. Our cosmetologists are employees of the company who are paid for all time worked, not by appointments booked. There are no booth rental fees and all supplies are provided. You keep what you earn!

Skincare Specialty:

The Cosmetologist skincare position administers professional facials, waxing services and select body treatments to our guests. They must possess a thorough knowledge of the skin, have excellent facial massage and skin extraction techniques, possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to train in our spa’s specific facial treatment offerings. They must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness and beauty solutions to meet the needs of our guests.

Nail Specialty:

The Nail Technician performs professional nail, hand, and foot treatments. They must possess a thorough knowledge of the nails, including a basic knowledge of hand and foot massage techniques and a neat application of polish. They must possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to train in our spa’s specific nail service offerings. They must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide beauty solutions to meet the needs of our guests.

Hairstylist:

The Hairstylist will take care of clients hair with varies services including recommending hairstyles and haircuts according to customers’ face shapes and tastes, wash, rinse and dry clients’ hair using appropriate shampoos and conditioners. (e.g. for oily hair or dry scalp), cut, trim and shave hair using professional equipment, apply a wide range of hair coloring techniques, like highlights, ombre and balayage, great hairstyles for formal events and everyday looks including up do’s, blowouts and set & style, apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. color protection creams and hydrating masks), form bonds with loyal customers and remember their hairstyle preferences, manage bookings and serve walk-ins while being prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service, ensure tidiness of beauty stations and sterilize tools, as needed and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent professional facial and body treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
• Provide consistent professional nail, hand and foot treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
• Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training guests in these areas.
• Actively promote the spa, treatments, services, sessions, home care programs, and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available to meet Spa goals.
• Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures, completing necessary prep work between clients to ensure a seamless experience.
• Maintain consistent and professional communication with management, staff, and clients to promote and maintain a positive and productive environment.
• Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must hold and maintain a current New York State Cosmetology License OR
• Have a current license in a state of Cosmetology Reciprocity along with required qualifications and be willing to become licensed prior to employment in NY (Ex: Have PA License and 2 years of experience with 2 experience statements from two different people, attesting that the applicant has been working as a cosmetologist for the specified number of years.)
• Demonstrated history of providing exceptional client service.
• Excellent communication and listening skills to determine customer needs and plan for treatment
• Basic computer knowledge
