Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. is Hiring a Merced Taproom Retail Lead Near Merced, CA

The Merced Taproom Retail Lead at the Tioga-Sequoia Merced Taproom is a key position in the taproom that assists us in day-to-day taproom operations, taproom sales, and the overseeing that Tioga Sequoia Breweries taproom policies are followed on a regular basis. This Lead will harmonize with Management in keeping an updated record on merchandise product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages as well as providing customer feedback on new and existing items. This person will report directly to the Merced Taproom General Manager and Merced Taproom Assistant Manager.

Roles, Expectations, and Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Consistently stand for the duration of a shift while also bending, squatting, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team environment to ensure a smooth, successful and positive working environment.
  • Ability to take and pass a drug and background check.
  • Basic math skills, ability to use Square POS software, ability to operate a computer
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Genuine interest in craft beer and passion for the hospitality industry.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Retail Operations

  • Understand and maintain a working knowledge of all company and taproom policies and procedures.
  • Responsible opening/closing and lock-up of on-site retail operations; setting up the next team for success
  • Relaying precise operation relevant direction to any hired security or event staff.
  • Ensure Taproom cleanliness and standards are maintained.
  • Assist with an assortment of inventory protocols including supplies, merch, and beer
  • Ensure online, mobile orders, and deliveries are completed and set aside within a timely manner of receipt.
  • Able to answer customer questions, as needed, on TS beer, retail items and events
  • Approve and apply discounts for guests when needed (ie. Industry/Employee) as well as managing any corrections in the POS system quickly and efficiently.
  • Proper handling of cash/credit transactions through Square Point of Sale system
  • Working with ASM or GM in closing out employee and guest tabs nightly
  • Check identification of guests in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
  • Discuss any issues, concerns, or positive/constructive feedback with members of Senior Management
  • Participate in Team Discussions via Email and/or Group Chat
  • Provides management with guests feedback

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Opening and closing of cash drawers for the day.
  • Proper cash handling during opening and closing procedures
  • Prepare weekly cash count for bank deposit
  • Planning and delegating employee breaks and lunches throughout their shift and sending staff home in conjunction with taproom management.
  • Be aware and update taproom personnel of events or promotions going on in the taproom.
  • Working with Senior Management to ensure taproom events set-up, run and/or wrap up smoothly
  • Manager on duty when Senior Management is not present
  • Training any new TS team members and providing existing team members with on-the-spot feedback
  • Run errands for the taproom (Deliveries, pick-ups, supply runs, etc.); if needed
  • Keep up to date on daily and preventative maintenance duties for the taproom
  • Process and update orders/pick ups/deliveries
  • Keeps Taproom beer and merchandise organized and stocked in-store/online/coolers and reports any shortages to senior management
  • Fill out Employee Progress Reports
  • Assisting management with any general side task shifts
  • Following up with the team regarding side tasks, opening and closing checklists
  • Such as: bathroom checks, trash rounds, bussing tables, dishware maintenance, etc.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
