Job Summary
The Assistant Controller will assist with the day-to-day accounting operations including cost, accounts payable, payroll and be responsible for treasury functions. The Assistant Controller may supervise Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll staff, ensuring that all current policies and practices are followed, accurate and are implemented in a timely manner. Will participate in the preparation of hospital financial statements/reports as well as review and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts to resolve any discrepancies. Provides information and assistance to external auditors. Assist with preparation of budget and cost reports. Able to prepare analysis and proformas.
 Essential Functions
-Prepares monthly financial statements. 
-Prepares supporting documentation. 
-Reviews and/or reconciles balance sheet accounts. 
-Reviews and/or analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy.
-Provides assistance to department managers with reported information.
-Prepares and posts monthly journal entries.
-Reviews and/or reconciles bank statements. 
-Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports. 
-Assists in preparing the annual budget. 
-Assists with the annual audit. 
-Participates in submitting information to third party preparer of Medicare cost report. 
-Ensures accurate property ledgers for entire hospital with collection and reporting purchases, transfers, and disposals. 
-Establishes and maintains record retention and filing system for Financial Services department. 
-Assists with financial preforms and modeling for new programs, as well as ongoing monitoring of existing programs.
-Proformas all other related duties as assigned.
-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). 
Work Experience
-Previous healthcare operations experience strongly preferred. 
-Previous budgeting/planning/monthly variance analysis experience preferred. 
-Five years of experience in accounting, finance or related field preferred. 
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word preferred. 
Education 
-Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
-Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
