TLC Community Credit Union is Hiring a Payments Specialist Near Adrian, MI

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing support to the credit union staff and members with matters related to managing credit and debit card portfolio, as well as overseeing wire processing, real time payments and ACH processing platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of payment processing procedures, be highly organized, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail. In the event the AVP Payments Manager is unavailable the Payments Specialist III may act on behalf of/make management level decisions. The job description may not be all inclusive and employees are expected to perform all other dues as assigned as directed by Senior Management. Job descriptions and duties may be modified when deemed appropriate by Management.

This position has been approved for telecommuting work. 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILTIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

• Accomplishes staff job results and departmental goals by coaching and counseling Payments team; conducting training; initiating, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures; and keeping the Payments Manager updated on issues on a regular basis.

• Maintains a high level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all Credit Union products and services; interacts primarily with employees, member interaction may be required; provides staff a positive, professional role model of member service and sales through personal example.

• Responsible to conduct ongoing analysis of Operational Payments workflows and activities for the purpose of recommending improvements and more efficient processes.

• Responsible for the preparation and monitoring of all Payments reports including monthly/quarterly Card Processing Solutions (CPS), The Clearing House (TCH), FedNow, Alloya requests. Additional systems added as projects are implemented.

• Assist members with problems and complaints providing resolution when possible, directing them to his/her supervisor or to the proper department for further assistance. Acts as an escalation point when Payments Specialist I and II team are unable to assist.

• Treats all member transactions and information (positive or negative) completely confidential. Discloses information only as required by member and TLC policies.

• Maintains a high priority on being available to members/co-workers by being at workstation as assigned and during business hours.

• All other items assigned and deemed necessary by Management.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:

• Process credit and debit card transactions, including authorizations, settlements, and fraud prevention measures.

• Verify and validate wire transfer requests, ensuring accuracy of account details and authorization.

• Handle ACH processing, including transaction reviews, data validation, and reconciliation.

• Investigate and resolve payment-related issues, collaborating with relevant departments when necessary.

• Perform regular audits to identify and rectify any discrepancies in payment processing.

• Generate reports and documentation related to payment activities, trends, and performance.

• Assist in the development and implementation of payment processing policies and procedures.

Internal Resource: provide backup support when necessary to Operations Support department.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Contribute during disaster preparedness exercises, and update COPE Business Continuity plans for the department.

• Expert level knowledge of all responsibilities assigned to Payments Specialist I and II.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

When warranted Payments Specialist III may be asked to supervise employees of the Payments team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Provides overall guidance of personnel activities to ensure solid team efforts toward the attainment of branch and Credit Union goals. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work. Any supervisory activities would come at the direction of the AVP Payments Manager

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

EXPERIENCE:

• Requires at least three years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

• Ability to function with minimal supervision.

• Requires strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

• Requires strong written communication skills.

• Requires the ability to type accurately and operate a data entry terminal.

• Requires basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

EDUCATION:

• Requires High School Diploma.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

• Ability to write routine correspondence.

• Ability to read and interpret documents.

• Ability to speak professionally and effectively with members, potential members, and other employees of organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

NACHA Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) designation

OR

NACHA Faster Payments Professional (FPP) certificate

will be obtained within one calendar year of beginning the position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Branch-based, In person required. Employee must be able to bend, sit, stand, primary role requires limited physical exertion. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
