Responsible for choosing the correct settings and directing the patient to move into positions that will offer the best view. Consistently obtain high quality imaging for Radiologist interpretation. General understanding of PACS (Picture Archive Communication System) and its function. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and hospital records. Able to interact compassionately and effectively with the sick or injured. Ability to utilize specialized computerized equipment to produce cross sectional images of the human anatomy which aid Radiologists in diagnosing diseases and/or disorders.Position Specific Competencies:1. Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations and other special procedures as directed. Able to demonstrate adequate images of anatomy for proper diagnosis2. Consults with radiologist for exam review prior to patient discharge3. Provides ultrasound guidance for attending physicians in special procedures. Able to demonstrate anatomynecessary for examination performed.4. Responsible for trouble-shooting techniques with respect to machine malfunction. Notifies Clinical Engineering ifneeded.5. Makes sure clinical history is appropriate.6. Verifies orders and patient identification with the two established identifiers.7. Ability to utilize full operation of the U/S units and probes.8. Ability to obtain adequate imaging of requested anatomy. Correct labeling of body part and viewing plane.9. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of PACS system and ability to utilize the system.10.
