TLS Management is Hiring a BAS Technician/Applications Specialist Near Chicago, IL

Job description

Federal contracting firm specializing in JCI Building Automation Systems (BAS) is looking for multiple BAS Technicians/Applications Specialists. The positions would require the employee to be onsite at various healthcare facilities in Chicago, Illinois.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Experience with programming and/or troubleshooting in one or more of the following brands of HVAC Controls products is highly desired: Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta, Distech, Carrier, ALC, and/or Andover.
  • Experience with BAS communication protocols should include one of the following: BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, N2, P1, Modbus, and/or LON.
  • Adheres to all TLS and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all Technicians. Provides safety awareness and instruction to subcontractors on TLS work sites.
  • Assists the Service Manager or Customer Service Agent with identifying and scheduling individuals with the correct skills and knowledge to perform repairs or installation.
  • Performs self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency.
  • Timely completes all training and certifications as required by the company.
  • Install and inspect equipment to meet contract guidelines and manufacturer specifications.
  • Manage assigned Electronic Systems service calls regarding field labor hours estimated.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex building architectural, electrical documents, and mechanical drawings, as well as project plans, specifications, schedules, and equipment installation/operation/troubleshooting manual.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, pre and post-employment drug screenings, & have a valid drivers license and clean DMV record.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3 years experience with installation and service of Direct Digital Controls (DDC) BAS systems. Experience with servers, and different operating systems. Proficiency in personal computers (Windows 10, Server 2016) and MS Office software. Working knowledge of Local Area Networks (LAN) systems.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Available to work overtime or out of town when required.
  • Knowledge of electricity and electronics including Relays, Motor Contactors, transformers, DCV circuits, and ACV circuits.
  • Use hand and power tools and test equipment such as multi-meters, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, and communication devices as required. Move equipment/tools weighing up to 40 pounds. Work may involve climbing ladders and scaffolding with equipment. Performing work at heights while positioned on ladders, Aerial Work Platform, and in cramped workspaces such as ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to maintain professional, calm demeanor during service emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Electronics or HVAC technical coursework preferred.
  • 1 - 5 years Commercial HVAC experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Niagara programming and/or Johnson CCT programming application a plus.
