Job TitleAssistant Principal of Academics Contract Length225 Days Reports ToPrincipal SupervisesPrimary Role:The ideal candidate will work with school leaders to build and maintain a positive and safe school climate and carry out the school’s academic programs and perform teacher evaluations, attend and guide PLC meetings and work with data for overall student and staff growth. Further, the candidate will work closely with school counselors and school personnel to develop a strong school culture in which students grow to exemplify our core values. Required Experience
B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution in education and/or a related field
Master’s Degree in the specified content area (reading, math, etc.), curriculum and instruction, or administration
5 years of experience in teaching or school administration
1 years of experience in MTSS planning and implementation
1 years of experience in successfully implementing a PBIS (or related) plan
Possession of a current North Carolina Professional Educator’s License

Builds systems and relationships with staff in order to leverage their expertise, power, and influence to realize the school’s vision for success
Creates environment and mechanisms to ensure all internal stakeholder voices are heard and respected
Uses performance as the primary criterion for reward and advancement
Academic Achievement Leadership
Leader’s work will result in acceptable, measurable progress for students based on established performance expectations and will use appropriate data to demonstrate growth

Duties And Responsibilities
Follow all Board policies
Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information
Collaborate with staff to plan the school’s instructional program
Support and nurture a collaborative work environment for all employees
Practice fair and consistent evaluations of teachers within established timelines
Assist with recruiting and maintaining high-quality staff
Maintain a good relationship with students, staff, and parents
Provides timely communication of information with staff, parents, and students
Communicates school’s accomplishments within TMSA, with school community, and public media
Designs scheduling processes and protocols that maximize staff input and address diverse student learning needs
Collaborates with staff to create opportunities for parents, community, and businesses to participate in the school
Be easily accessible to staff
Maintain high visibility throughout the school
Effectively delegate tasks to others in a way that provides learning experiences for them and ensures the efficient operation of the school
Actively seeks and applies feedback from staff, parents, and students
Resolves short-term issues while balancing them against long-term goals
Analyzes student performance data
Evaluates student progress in current instructional program using current student performance data
Effectively utilizes the latest technology to continuously improve the management of the school and enhance student instruction
Manage your time and that of your staff well, including running effective meetings
Monitors and works to improve student and staff attendance
Maintains acceptable student behavior in all areas of the school
Establishes and maintains a safe environment for all staff and students
Perform teacher formal and informal evaluations
Other duties as assigned by Principal
