Job DescriptionDrafter Manufacturing Engineer Job DescriptionAt TEL Safety, Quality and Compliance are our Top Priority. It is our pride. We are looking for a talented manufacturing drafter to support, improve and document manufacturing processes. The manufacturing drafter’s responsibilities include identifying and continuously improving the manufacturing documentation and processes, soliciting observations from operators and documenting new products, fixtures, tooling and assemblies.
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineering Drafter to join our team in Chaska, Minnesota. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in families with SolidWorks and/or Creo, proficiency in 3D modeling, and the ability to generate model-based work instructions.
Manufacturing Engineer, Drafter Responsibilities:
  • Develops procedures and documentation for new and existing products.
  • Daily usage of CAD and/or Word to create and/or modify work instructions based on 3D models and observation of best practices on the production floor.
  • Evaluate and document impact of change notices.
  • Create updates to documentation based on change notices.
  • Responsible for production documentation release on assigned projects.
  • Supporting manufacturing needs by updating and creating models of tubing and wiring to ensure consistent production practices.
  • Developing and updating detailed layouts for equipment and process flow.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • AA with equivalent combination of professional work experience.
  • One year of experience in manufacturing environment or CAD modeling preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledgeable in lean principles.
  • Experience using CAD (Creo and/or SolidWorks), SAP S4HANA, Teamcenter, CAM, data analysis programs, and related software.
  • Experience creating work instructions, 3D model based a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of formal problem-solving principles.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong analytical thinker.
  • Ability to work in a Class I semiconductor clean room.
  • Ability to occasionally travel, including internationally.
Physical Requirements: Job duties are performed in an office setting or in a clean room environment.
Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and ability to lift/carry objects up to 35 pounds is required. May require bending/stooping/crawling/climbing. May require the use of Personal Protection Equipment and proper industry safety procedures when working with one or more dangerous element or conditions such as chemicals, electric currents, or high voltage, moving mechanical parts, radiation, etc. Occasional overnight travel to TEL factory, training facilities and customer locations may be required.
