The Bus Cleaner performs routine checks of bus condition and ensures that the buses are prepared for service.

One Team! One TARTA! The role of the Bus Cleaner, will focus on supporting maintenance operations within a new TARTA. In 2020, TARTA embarked on a transformational journey with the development of TARTA Next, a ten-year plan to increase community value through public transit services that make a positive impact. This transformation is powered by a dedicated team of professionals in each department from the leadership team to every front-line (and behind-the-scenes) team member.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Routine Maintenance

• Deep cleaning of the bus.
• Cleaning the interior of the bus in preparation for daily operation
• Alerting supervisor to more complex mechanical problems

Miscellaneous Duties

• Remove trash and debris.
• Clean work area and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Understanding of basic operation requirements of the bus.
• Knowledge of safety procedures.
• Proficiently use appropriate tools and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
• Read and comprehend written materials.
• Write simple work orders.
• Decision-making skills.
• Evaluating information against industry standards.
• Learn additional skills on the job to advance toward an upper-level position.
• Must be able to perform all the following physical tasks.
  1. Crawling daily for distances of up to 10 feet.
  2. Standing for intervals of 4 hours or more without rest.
  3. Reaching daily above shoulder height to retrieve, place or sort objects weighing more than 25 lbs.
  4. Walking for 4 or more hours of the shift.

Minimum Qualifications

A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
