About the Position

This person will report to the assistant controller. The staff accountant will be responsible for helping ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and work with internal auditor and other members of management to gain an in depth knowledge of Tom James and support our business throughout the United States and Internationally. This will include travel to different locations and work with other accounting personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate reconciliation of various accounts including intercompany accounts with foreign locations on a monthly basis

• Support quarterly accounting consolidations and help in the coordination and completion of the annual audit

• Work with Internal auditor on various projects

• Observe semiannual inventory counts at factory locations

• Review and recommend best practices for procedures currently in place

• Work on various projects as assigned to help improve efficiency and reduce cost

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to work cooperatively with others
• Ability to perform standard spreadsheet functions
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of General Accounting and GAAP concepts
• Organizational skills.

WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree
• 1-2 years’ experience
