Job Summary:

Tom’s Automotive is seeking an individual to join our team as Service Writer/Automotive Technician. Responsible for greeting customers, scheduling appointments, communicating processes and timelines, diagnosing mechanical/electrical problems and perform standard vehicle maintenance/repairs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Provide accurate information about services, pricing, policies, and procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Keep customers informed about service progress, delays, and any changes to appointments.
• Enter customer information into a database.
• Compile work estimates and communicate them to the customer.
• Answering customers’ questions regarding the nature of repairs and their costs.
• Bill the customer and accept payment when the job is complete.
• Stay current with industry trends, changes, and advancements to provide informed recommendations to customer.
• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Perform standard component inspections and repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
• Replace defective components as instructed.
• Test drive vehicles as required to ensure proper working conditions.
• Complete state inspections as assigned.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.
• 3-5 years of related experience in the automotive service environment.
• 3-5 years of sales experience preferred in the automotive industry.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake/tire work required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
