**A Day in the Life of a Transportation Engineer**

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You work on an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. Youll work on safety plans, road diet feasibility analysis, multimodal traffic studies for new development, sign and marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, roundabout studies, trail/roadway intersection studies and design Safe Routes to Schools. You will share your knowledge with staff and clients, to develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents, as well mentor your colleagues to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality. You will have the opportunity to work alongside transportation industry leaders that focus on multimodal safety and transportation equity research and data analysis.

You participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve.

**Work Schedule for a Transportation Engineer**

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. Our office opened in 2018 and is located in downtown Los Angeles within the Financial District and is a short walk to all of the major rapid transit lines and walking distance to the 7th Street Metro Center and Metro Bike Share.

Requirements **Qualifications of a Transportation Engineer**

Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil/transportation engineering

Professional engineering license. California license and/or Professional Transportation Operations Engineer (P.T.O.E) is a plus

4 years of traffic engineering experience

Experience developing conceptual designs for intersections and corridors in CAD

Experience developing sign and marking plans for intersections

Experience with traffic signal design and operations

Understanding of basic geometric design principles of roadways and industry roadway design standards

Strong understanding of design standards and guidelines such as Caltrans Standard Plans & Specifications, APWA Greenbook, Caltrans Highway Design Manual, and California MUTCD is a plus

Availability and interest in performing field visits in the Southern California region

Strong writing skills and experience writing a technical memorandum and/or basis of design documentation

Experience with Southern California local jurisdictions and transit agencies on projects is a plus

**It would be nice if you have:**

Fluency in Spanish

Experience with managing transportation planning and/or engineering projects

Experience in the various stages of marketing, including business development, proposal strategy and writing, and interviewing

A working knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS or QGIS) and Adobe Creative Suites Cloud apps (Illustrator and InDesign)

Participated in industry events and are active in local professional organizations
