Toole Design Group in Madison, WI is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Senior or Principal Engineer with a focus on final design plan development in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Do you have a strong background in civil engineering with final, detailed roadway/corridor design or site development experience? Do you desire to be a part of a collaborative design process for multimodal transportation projects, but believe an auto-centric approach is outdated? Are you passionate about creating quality construction documents, safe streets for all, and sustainability? Are you looking for the opportunity to work on challenging multimodal projects that make communities more livable? Would you like to work for a firm that is committed to the well-being of its employees? If so, please consider joining our team in Madison*.
*This position could also be located in Madison, WI; this position can be focused on work in Wisconsin but be based in Minneapolis, MN.
This engineering position with a focus on final design construction plan development and corridor modeling earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, a health savings account (HSA), and a flexible spending account (FSA). We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.
About Toole Design
Toole Design is the leading engineering, planning, and landscape architecture firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States and Canada. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race or gender. We have been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.
Every project our employees deliver directly and positively affects our communities. We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
A Day in the Life of a Senior or Principal Engineer
You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You will lead and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs like AutoCAD and/or Microstation in order to fulfill production work on your projects as needed and/or supervise others doing that production work. You will manage projects and guide your team through design development, design review, bid package development, permitting, and answering questions during construction. You will work with your team to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.
You will be at the table with clients and colleagues from a variety of disciplines, delivering project ideas from concept to construction. You share your knowledge on stakeholder and public outreach, developing feasibility studies and concept plans and preparing construction documents for innovative projects throughout the country. You participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our Midwest and North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve!
