Toolio is Hiring a Sr. Full Stack Data Scientist (New York) Near Brooklyn, NY

As a Senior Full Stack Data Scientist at Toolio, you will be a key player in our team, leading the development of our innovative demand forecasting engine for the apparel industry. This position offers a rare chance to work on a predominantly greenfield project in a rapidly expanding machine-learning environment. You will work closely with a vibrant and diverse group of data scientists, software engineers, business experts, and visionaries.
In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in transforming how apparel brands and retailers make inventory decisions. Join us in our mission to enable 100x better decision-making through the development of intuitive and predictive software!
Responsibilities
  • Lead the creation of forecasting algorithms that drive decision-making systems, impacting millions of dollars of inventory globally.
  • Collaborate on a greenfield project, using your expertise to drive innovation and deliver significant value.
  • Partner with product managers, fellow data scientists, and engineers to uncover new opportunities for incorporating first-party customer behavior signals and second-party data to enhance forecast accuracy.
  • Contribute to a fast-paced startup where your ideas and input will have a substantial and meaningful impact.
  • Be part of a dynamic and diverse team that values collaboration, creativity, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
  • Play a vital role in developing intuitive and predictive software that will redefine decision-making processes in the industry.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced startup environment, successfully building systems from prototype to production.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with customers, partners, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams.
  • Demonstrated technical judgment in selecting and adapting machine learning algorithms to solve real-world problems, with a bonus for a focus on time series problems or demand forecasting.
  • Ability to start with small initiatives and incrementally expand the data science platform while improving scalability and performance.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, ensuring the seamless operation of a continually evolving SaaS product.
  • 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist.
Technical Expertise
  • Deep knowledge of at least two mainstream machine learning libraries or frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, and XGBoost.
  • Proficiency in handling data of various shapes and sizes, enabling quick development of POCs and robust pipelines.
  • Experience in scaling and monitoring complex machine learning pipelines involving multiple models and millions of critical predictions weekly.
  • Expertise in optimizing data models and access patterns for modern warehouse and orchestration platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, Spark, DBT, Apache Airflow, and Prefect.
  • Strong skills in Python, Pandas, and working with columnar formats like Parquet.
  • Significant background in mathematics, including statistics and probability.
