Responsibilities

Our family practice/internal medicine clinics located in Torrance are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join our team.

The Medical Secretary is responsible for providing secretarial, clerical and administrative support to patients, physicians, medical assistants, and clerical staff.

Primary duties will include but are not limited to:

· Greeting patients in a friendly, professional manner

· Answering, screening, and directing phone calls to appropriate parties without error

· Checking patients in and out; facilitating test ordering, follow-up appointment scheduling, etc.

· Calling physical appointments a day before to remind patients

· Calling “no-show” patients and rescheduling them for another appointment

· Following processes related to timely and accurate electronic filing

· Delivering patient messages to physicians, care teams and patients

· Assisting with prior authorizations for prescriptions

· Scheduling patient appointments

· Calling/scheduling patients on pursuit lists

Requirements:

· High School Diploma / GED

· One year experience in a fast paced clinic environment, preferably in a family practice/internal medicine setting

· The ability to communicate clearly to patients and fellow staff members both verbally and in writing

· Energetic, professional manner

· EMR proficient, Cerner experience preferred

· Excellent Computer Skills, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word a plus

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
