About The RoleThe Production Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of manufacturing processes within our organization. Collaborate with various teams including product development, production, supply chain, maintenance, quality control, and management to optimize production procedures, improve product quality, and reduce production costs.
Responsibilities
  • Equipment Work Centers: Establish equipment work centers for manufacturing processes including laser, metal forming and machining and product assembly. Optimize product work flows between inter-related work centers and establish standard operating procedures.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality control team to develop and implement quality standards and procedures to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising product quality or safety. Implement cost-saving initiatives such as process optimization, waste reduction, and resource utilization improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing lean manufacturing principles, conducting root cause analysis, and leading cross-functional teams to identify and address process inefficiencies.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Work closely with the maintenance team to develop preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure that production equipment is properly maintained to minimize downtime.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards by implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits, and providing training to production staff on safe work practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production activities, performance metrics, and process changes. Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
  • Supplier and Vendor Management: Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to evaluate suppliers and vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components to support production schedules.
  • Project Management: Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving production processes, introducing new products, or implementing new technologies.
Experience You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; preferably in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or automotive engineering.
  • 2-5 years of proven experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a production engineering, or similar, role.
  • Established experience in CNC manufacturing equipment including lasers, mills, lathes, and welding machines.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data and identify process improvements.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and familiarity with manufacturing software systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions
This position works in an air-conditioned warehouse/manufacturing and cleanroom environments. A break area is available with refrigerator access, microwave, coffee maker, and drink/snack machines.
Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.
  • Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.
  • Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must report to work with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
