Job Description

Total-Western, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team in Benicia, CA. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for engineering, maintenance, and construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring all client requirements and specifications are addressed.
  • Project Analysis: Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to identify potential cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary information and ensure accurate estimates.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to obtain current pricing for materials, labor, and equipment. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and cost factors.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all estimates, including assumptions, methodologies, and supporting data.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients to clarify project requirements and address any questions or concerns related to estimates and proposals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate past project outcomes and estimate accuracy to identify areas for improvement in the estimation process.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimation within the engineering, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation software and tools such as Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or similar.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively convey information and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates and proposals.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Experience

  • Industry Experience: Experience in the oil and gas, power generation, or manufacturing industries.
  • Certification: Certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or similar professional organizations.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in estimation software and project management tools.
  • Process Improvement: Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated success in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale projects.

Compensation

Total-Western, Inc. offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
