Profil du candidat Join TotalEnergies Renewables USA, LLC as a Manager, Energy Storage Technology . This is a new addition to our team starting in Q4-2024/Q1-2025 as we are strengthening our presence in renewable energies.
The Manager, Energy Storage Technology will serve as the primary subject matter expert for energy storage in the areas of project scoping and techno-economic optimization, BESS technology procurement (including contract negotiation), construction support, and interconnection/commissioning.
What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline required; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a technical capacity in the electric utility industry, including at least 2 years of experience working on BESS projects
  • Experience negotiating battery supply and performance contracts, either at a developer/IPP or a battery supplier/OEM
  • Demonstrated ability to and work with cross functional teams to deliver on large scale utility energy projects
  • Solid oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details
  • Ability to quickly work into new tasks and accommodate a dynamic environment
  • Experience providing technical support for project economic modelling, interconnection/transmission studies, detailed electrical engineering/design, and overall business strategy strongly preferred

Activités
  • Keep close tabs on commercially available BESS products/advancements to inform BESS project site acquisition, interconnection, project specifications (e.g., energy capacity/duration), vendor pool selection, and other development and pre-construction activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with business development and project finance teams to value engineer BESS projects within TERUSA’s overall US portfolio.
  • Support requests for proposals (RFPs) for BESS product selection on a per-project basis, carefully evaluating price, technical specifications, vendor qualifications, and other key procurement metrics to inform selection criteria.
  • Negotiate contracts for BESS equipment supply and BESS vendor-supplied operations & maintenance, warranty management, and performance guarantees, including key commercial provisions (e.g., payment milestones, performance shortfall amounts, and liquidated damage caps) in line with TERUSA performance standards, ensuring proper coverage for technology and performance risk.
  • Support engineering, procurement, and construction (“EPC”) selection and contract negotiations to prevent scope gaps and cost overruns between the full suite of vendors and contractors on each project of which energy storage technology is an aspect.
  • Work with assigned interconnection/transmission managers to make certain BESS parameters are correct and stay up to date throughout the interconnection application, study, and agreement stages.
  • Support pre-construction activities, including ministerial permit applications, late-stage design optimization, site use agreements, easements, etc.
  • As required, serve as TERUSA’s energy storage technology SME in community meetings, permit hearings, and other stakeholder engagement efforts.
  • Support project managers and site superintendents during the construction and commissioning phases to ensure adherence to installation requirements, warranty maintenance terms, commissioning procedures, helping keep BESS projects on schedule and budget while enforcing TERUSA’s rigorous safety standards.
  • Coordinate with the Owner’s Engineer and EPC contractor on development deliverables and construction timelines, including BESS vendor lead times.
  • Maintain and provide to appropriate team members key technical and market information about storage components.
  • Support RFP responses and contract negotiations with offtakers, as necessary.
  • Support project financing activities on BESS projects before and after commercial operation date (COD)
  • Liaise with asset management team to resolve BESS technical question in the operational phase, as necessary
