Trade Compliance Specialist - Fairburn, GA (Hybrd)

Must reside in the metro Atlanta, GA area

SUMMARY:

The Trade Compliance Specialist of Global Trade Compliance is responsible for executing policies and procedures to ensure import and export transactions are executed by regulatory requirements. Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and consultants to adhere to customs regulations during the execution of international shipments and importation of raw materials and finished goods. This position relies on sound judgment to ensure the achievement of corporate business objectives and operational goals. Responsible for interacting with all business segments and functional groups to ensure compliance with import/export regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the Proof of Export folders
  • Responsible for answering HTS, COO, 301 Exclusion, and CF28 requests from internal/external departments
  • Assists with responses to data inquiries from internal/external partners and customers, foreign subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, brokers, and carriers to ensure compliance with all items customs related activities
  • Responsible for maintaining the Master Item HTS Code Sheet. This includes but is not limited to: Maintaining the sheet to ensure that internal departments have updated HTS code information as required, and Bi-weekly preperation and upload of sheet data into the ERP system
  • Maintain data enrty and integrity of the tradeflow database. Including but not limited to: addition/removal of items, updates to EPA information, and updates HTS code information.
  • Responsible for maintaining the NoM list, this includes monthly updates and distribution
  • Responsible for denied party screening including but not limited to: Direct Shipment (Inter. Cust. Serv.) Freight Forwarders, New Customers listed on the New Customers Setup Report
  • Responsible for maintaining the lithium battery sheet
  • Help to manage all tasks on the GTC RASCI Matrix to make sure each task is being completed on time
  • Creates and provides support to the continuous improvement and cost reduction/mitigation initiatives related to C-TPAT, Global Trade Compliance program, including, but not limited to document revisions of internal controls and procedures
  • Assists with maintaining strong relationships with all internal and external partners
  • Classification of goods, including an understanding of General Rules of Interpretation, NOM, Free Trade Agreements, duty calculations, and proper use of US Customs Harmonized Classification System
  • Validates compliance of all inventory manufactured in the United States to the guidelines and qualifications of trade programs, such as USMCA, or any other government savings programs

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job currently has no supervisory responsibilities (No direct reports to this position). Subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in the field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. a plus, but not required
  • Experience with, and/or significant knowledge of US Customs regulations, US Export Administration Regulations, international business practices, and transportation laws, is desirable
  • Possess excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Must be a team player and self-starter; high bias toward action
  • Ability to multi-task, manage projects, prioritize work and handle complex tasks
  • Significant computer experience including MS Office products and ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Experience in HTS code classification
  • Must have a strong work ethic and a desire to consistently perform at the highest levels of competence
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, writing, and editing skills and the ability to learn quickly, work in a team environment with minimal supervision
