Job Summary:

Laundry/Linen Technician’s main purpose is delivering a sufficient quantity of clean and sanitary linen to patient care departments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Remove linen from delivery carts and stock in appropriate cart.
• Maintain linen par levels in all patient care areas-stock daily.
• Adjust par levels as needed based on census and usage.
• Keeps all clean linen covered.
• Delivers linen exchange carts to departments and floors on a timely basis.
• Complete linen inventory/order Mon-Wed-Fri, give to supervisor to email.
• Rotates linen daily.
• Cleans and maintains linen delivery and storage carts.
• Keeps Laundry Department clean and lint free daily.
• Sweep floors daily.
• Linen carts are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
• Report any unsafe conditions in the department.
• Follows Standard Precaution policies.
• Participates in monthly department meetings, in-services and training programs.
• Answers the telephone in a courteous and professional manner.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Experience

• One to two years of prior job-related experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• None.

Skills and Abilities

• Oral and written communication skills are necessary.
• Interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively work with department personnel.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to stand 4 to 8 hours.
• Must be able to transport heavy linen carts.
• Must be able to stand extreme temperatures.
• Must have the ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Medium work; exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to10 pounds consistently to move object.
• Required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
• Mentally able to understand and carry out oral and written commonsense instructions.

This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Employees in non-exempt positions are entitled to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek in accordance with state and federal regulations.
