While this position requires a high degree of understanding in digital retail channels and user experience, they also must possess a high degree of knowledge of marketing and branding across printed and alternative channels, inclusive of packaging and retail inserts. We expect this individual to be sales-driven, but also a creative strategist that can help us unify marketing and advertising efforts across various platforms, including mobile-friendly web pages, email and SMS, internal sites and search platforms, social media networks and collaboratively with retail sales partners. This leader must possess a complete understanding of the purpose, vision, and business plan of brands and ecommerce initiatives, as well as collaborate with key stakeholders to support strategic objectives, launches, promotions and activities that ultimately unify our brand presence, consumer product offerings and outward appearance/engagement with end users.
The mission of this role is to create highly comprehensive and functional visual identities for our in-house and licensed brands that are consumer-welcoming, informative, and productive across platform and medium. Considering consumer behaviors, points of contact, and industry trends, this team member must be efficient and thoughtful in creating digital and print assets which will encourage brand loyalty across all categories.
This position will serve as the source for all branded assets and platforms, working closely with the Digital Creative Director and Director of Digital Merchandising, Shelf. Processes will require an immense amount of cross-functional collaboration with the rest of the Ecommerce team, including the Creative Studio Team (Photography/Video), Digital Merchandising and Sales. Additionally, this position will require inter-departmental cooperation with Packaging Design, Product Design, Production, and Sourcing with respect to their current processes.
Working together with department leadership and the Digital Creative Director, a critical function for this role will be the design and implementation of a new ecommerce direct-to-consumer site/s. Using out-of-the-box utilities and themes with platforms like Shopify in addition to some customization, the Digital Designer will be integral in bringing our ecommerce product to the masses within our own retail environment. Experience with UI research and testing is important, as all decisions in this environment must be profit-driving and accessible to as many consumers as possible.
This individual will act as a resource to internal teams and leadership to establish consistency across all digital content as well as helping to create internal WOW & SOP regarding design, communication, merchandising, and marketing.
This role will be influential in supporting the ecommerce Digital Merchandising team in executing new launches, post-purchase consumer engagement, maintaining retail storefronts, and participating in promotional opportunities across multiple mediums.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Digital Designer will have solid experience in creating sales-driving digital and print assets. This individual should also have experience working with multiple departments and mediums, including but not limited to; Sales, Packaging Design, Photo/Video and Marketing. This designer will be a central resource for all aspects of visual communication, both internally and externally, so maintaining a positive and upbeat rapport with all stakeholders is a necessity. This position requires a strong and organized designer who can keep a holistic and strategic view on profits while still driving forward the quality of their design work. This position always keeps the consumer in mind, so it is expected that they are on top of emerging trends and have a strong grasp of the foundations needed to reach a wide breadth of consumer demographics.
  • In partnership with the Digital Creative Director, be a chief driver of building out the visual identity of our family of current and future in-house lifestyle brands. A passion for interiors and consumer trends is strongly encouraged to be successful in this role.
  • Aid in the planning, designing and maintenance of a direct-to-consumer ecommerce website. A strong background in UI, both design and research, is a must.
  • Execute the ideation and production of Ecommerce digital assets, including but not limited to logos, infographics, promotional and marketing assets, social media layouts, and email blasts.
  • Responsible for creating a wide variety of assets for internal and external communication including signage, presentations, and brand guides.
  • Work directly with in-house Creative Studio and team of overseas Retouchers and Designers to apply design assets to photo and video.
  • Work effectively with Packaging Design to ensure the appropriate messaging and branding is applied to all Ecommerce products. Knowledge of wholesale production timelines, layout, print specs, and packaging types is a plus.
  • Explore and implement post-purchase engagement strategies through design, utilizing tools like QR codes on packaging and email blasts to ensure repeat purchases and brand loyalty.
  • Maintain an awareness of our licensed brands and their specific visual identities. Be able to strictly adhere to their provided style guides in all mediums.
  • Support Sales, Merchandising and Marketing teams to create promotional assets and presentations to communicate with external retailers and brands.
  • Work closely with the Digital Merchandising Associates to ensure assets and resources are discoverable and utilized as intended.
  • Be a hands-on partner in maintaining and improving the Ecommerce team’s utilization of the Digital Asset Management system.
  • Practice smart time management while collaborating on multiple projects with overlapping timelines.
  • Explore and organize design and inspiration resources to influence our brand strategy.
  • Have an of-the-moment grasp on social media and marketing trends to aid in supplying assets for any digital marketing strategy.
  • Assist in building a strong and scalable workflow as our team and business grows.
Requirements
  • College Degree or related professional experience.
  • Solid background (3-5 years) in print and digital design, preferably experience in the wholesale or retail industries
  • A passion for interiors and/or lifestyle brands.
  • An expert in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • A comprehensive background in UI/UX design. Experience with Figma is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Shopify or equivalent ecommerce DTC platforms.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other programming languages.
  • Agile in Microsoft applications, specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Should have basic familiarity with Excel.
  • An acute attention to detail with the ability to zoom out and see the bigger picture at the same time.
  • A drive to collaborate with and receive feedback from stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various site management and ecommerce platforms.
  • Change agent with an ability to think out of the box and bring new innovative ideas to the table.
  • Able to quickly change and adapt, with a yearning to learn, grow and push new ideologies.
