Wetlands Officer
The Town of Easton has an opening for a qualified Wetlands Officer. This is a non-union, 12 hour per week position without benefits.
As a Wetlands Officer, the duties include acting on behalf of the Inland/Wetlands Agency of the Conservation Commission by issuing violation notices or cease and desist orders and carrying out other actions or investigations necessary for the enforcement of the State and Easton’s Wetland Regulations including Soil Erosion Control Regulations. The Wetlands Officer will advise prospective applicants of permit requirements and coordinate applications with the Planning & Zoning staff. He/she will conduct site inspections and compose written reports as a follow up to (a) permits issued, (b) recognized violations, and (c) construction projects in progress. Attendance will be required at periodic evening meetings.
A comprehensive training program developed by the Commissioner of DEEP is to be completed in due course.
An Associate’s Degree with a minimum of four (4) years of related experience in land surveying, landscape architecture, soil science, grounds keeping, civil engineering, GIS, arboriculture, and/or agriculture preferred. An arborist license is favored. Selected candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.
A background check and drug screening will be performed prior to hiring for this position.
