THIS ROLE IS 25 HOURS PER WEEK, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, AND IS ELIGIBLE FOR PAID TIME OFF INCLUDING HOLIDAYS, PERSONAL, AND ACCRUED VACATION AND SICK TIME . General DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the Senior Center Supervisor, incumbent provides initial contact and interacts with residents and other customers in person or by telephone, responds to their service needs and issues, and serves as support staff to the Senior and Social Services department.
Essential Duties
  • Provides exceptional customer service to the public in person, by telephone, and through email. Greets visitors, provides assistance by answering questions about Senior and Social Services and offers referrals to local resources when appropriate. Collects payments and issues receipts for programs and services.
  • Registers customers in for a variety of programs and services using online software programs.
  • Schedules rides and dispatches drivers for Dial-a-Ride program.
  • Prepares monthly invoices for contractual instructors. Processes recurring monthly payments for program participants.
  • Creates flyers and brochures using digital design software.
  • Maintains records and statistics of programs and activities.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies.
  • Contributes to a respectful and safe work environment by fostering a culture of positive communication and ethical behavior, with an emphasis on providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.

Qualifications Profile
  • Ability to use sound judgement
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to complete multiple administrative tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, database management skills, and internet research
  • Ability to operate multi-line telephone, facsimile, printer, and copier
  • Ability to comprehend multiple instructions
  • Ability to prepare and edit short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to communicate effectively through speech and writing
  • Basic math computation skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to perform such tasks as light typing, filing, computer work and using a calculator. Ability to push/pull/lift 20 pounds
  • Ability to verbally communicate via telephone, hear verbal exchanges and be able to see written documents in order to process paperwork
  • Tolerant to exposure to variations in office temperatures
Minimum Training And Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of general office or customer service experience and/or training
