Job Detail

Community Liaison (Open Positions: 1)


Job Status: Full-Time
Rate of Pay: $29.55 - DOE&Q

Summary

The Gorham Police Department has an excellent opportunity for an individual experienced in the field of social services who is passionate about assisting individuals who are struggling with mental health or substance-use issues. The Community Liaison will serve the Gorham community by helping to connect individuals the Gorham Police Department has contact with to resources available in the community and beyond. This full-time (40 hours) hourly non-exempt position is a trained mental health and/or social services worker embedded in the Police Department who provides intervention, education, outreach, and case management. The Community Liaison acts as a link between Gorham residents and treatment services/facilities and represents the Gorham Police Department in multiple settings.


Compensation & Benefits

This position is eligible for a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, and paid time off. The Town currently pays 90% of the premium cost for all health insurance coverage levels and provides a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) to help cover the cost of out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as deductible and coinsurance. Individuals covered by an alternative health plan are eligible for an annual medical buyout in lieu of coverage (currently $2,443 - $5,480 based on coverage eligibility). In addition to a choice between two excellent health insurance plans, a 457(b) deferred compensation retirement plan with a 7.5% employer match, and paid vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays per year, employees have access to dental, vision, medical and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts, life insurance, short-term disability, IRAs, tuition reimbursement, and more.
The pay range for Grade 4 positions begins at $29.55 per hour; however, actual wage will depend on experience, qualifications, and budget availability.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. LSW, LMSW, LCPC, LCPC-C, or LCSW, or ability to obtain license within 12 months of hire, required. Prior experience working with individuals who have mental health issues and/or quality of life issues required. Prior experience working within a law enforcement agency preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
